Big news in Acushnet! Judge issues ruling on PJ Keating

We wanted to congratulate the community members in Acushnet, MA who have been working so hard to protect their community from harmful air pollution. The town of Acushnet has ordered PJ Keating Asphalt company to stop operations that are harming public health, and open the site to regular inspections by the Acushnet Board of Health.

PJ Keating’s asphalt site posed an unacceptable risk to the residents of Acushnet. This operation had multiple violations of state, federal, and local permits and regulations after an investigation conducted by assistant health agent Patrick Hannon. The operation had regularly produced noise, potentially toxic dust, and odor which have impacted the daily lives of residents outside of the quarry.

We want to thank Hon. William M. White Jr., Justice of the Suffolk County Superior Court, for approving an injunction to uphold a cease and desist order on PJ Keating. This means that any and all activities that harm the public health of the community must stop immediately and will open the site to regular inspections by public health officials in Acushnet to enforce this ruling.
