Testimonials

“One of the important resources that Community Action Works (CAW) provided was to coordinate work with our other partners, the major state environmental groups, so they would reach out to their constituents to get their long list of members active in our campaign. CAW provided those groups with background information to rally support; provide notice of upcoming meetings; and get their members to lobby the state house and pertinent state agencies. CAW, itself, got its folks to provide over 1,400 public comments for the MassDEP tentative decision asking DEP not to allow Pilgrim to dump its contaminated wastewater into Cape Cod Bay. We also needed CAW to work on social media, revamp and update our website- a key to any campaigns success. Like all groups we needed donations that CAW so generously provided.

We have a lot of work to do. Decommissioning work will continue until 2035 and the tons of highly toxic and vulnerable spent fuel will remain onsite indefinitely. Maintaining momentum will be a challenge. But with the help of Community Action Works we can do it and protect our environment, public health/safety, and our pocketbooks.”

Mary Lampert, Pilgrim Watch and Save Our Bay MA

“Community Action Works is the best of allies when a grassroots community group like NCABC challenges a wealthy corporation’s development plan that jeopardizes the environment and public health. We’ve collaborated through nearly five years of trainings and brainstorming, get-out-the-vote projects, phone banks, rallies and educational initiatives for the public and decision makers. Most recently, CAW provided grant support for the experts who give us a powerful voice in regulatory decisions and also funded a mail campaign to engage our regional community. CAW’s staff is unfailingly ready, experienced and enthusiastic —100% on our team, no matter the project.”

Sarah Doucette, Board Member, North Country Alliance for Balanced Change

“Community Action Works has funded several projects of the NH Network Plastics Working Group. CAW funds allowed us to create printed materials for tabling, offer training in systems thinking for our members, and most recently funding the Mesh Bag Mamas initiative to make 1,000 mesh produce bags to distribute free at co-ops in the Upper Valley area of New Hampshire & Vermont to give customers the choice for a reusable option for their produce instead of single use plastic. Working with Community Action works helps us to achieve our goal of reducing plastic waste and pollution and expand our reach.”
