Victory in Vermont! Court approves $34M Settlement in Bennington PFOA Suit
Six years after they discovered PFOA in their water supply, neighbors in North Bennington have settled a class-action lawsuit with St-Gobain Performance Plastics Corporation. U.S. District Court Chief Judge Geoffrey Crawford approved a $34 million settlement agreement that was reached between the complainants and St-Gobain in November 2021. The chemical company will not only have to compensate residents for damages, but will also have to fund a medical monitoring program that keeps track of PFOA-related health issues.
We celebrate this huge victory by the North Bennington neighbors, and we know the fight isn’t over. St-Gobain must fulfill its promises to clean the water in souther New Hampshire, where they set up a factory after leaving Vermont.
