We’re Putting Children’s Environmental Health First

Community Action Works Campaigns and our coalition partners call for strong regulation of chemicals for Vermont’s Children’s Environmental Health Day in October.
There is an urgent need to put children and families at the forefront of our nation’s actions regarding health and the environment. That’s why Community Action Works Campaigns is working alongside children’s environmental health advocates, experts, medical professionals and parents to make the call for lawmakers to take action to ensure toxic chemicals aren’t in children’s products.
On Oct. 12, 2017, in Vermont, we held Children’s Environmental Health Day to call on the state Legislature to close loopholes in the Toxic- Free Families Act to provide consumer-friendly information on dangerous chemicals in our kids’ products, and improve the process for ridding these products of dangerous chemicals.
All children are affected by environmental hazards. However, children living in poor communities and communities of color are at higher risk for exposure, and that’s why we’re prioritizing poor communities and communities of color in our work. Together, we are working to make a difference in the lives of all children and families across the region.
