Reclaim Roxbury Neighborhood Forum

June 30, 2017 @ 12:30 am - 3:30 am UTC+0

Reclaim Roxbury is excited to invite you to our Roxbury Community Forum in collaboration with ACE on Thursday, June 29th from 5:30 – 8 pm. We’ll be meeting at the Dudley Library 65 Warren St, Roxbury, MA 02119.

The city is currently deciding how to build on public land in Roxbury, land that used to be housing that was destroyed by the city during Urban Renewal in the 1960-70’s. On June 29th we’ll begin to work together to envision the future of our community by doing things like creating our own working definition of “affordable housing”, as opposed to the city/state/federal definition of “affordable” housing.

The city is saying they are including our voices in the process, but ultimately they are not allowing us to make decisions on land in our own community. We’re holding this Community Forum because we have heard from Roxbury residents that we need to begin our own community-led planning process before we let the city plan for us.

We heard your voices and concerns over the past year and are ready to start planning. In order to fight back we need neighborhood unity, and a shared vision for who we want to be and what we want to build. This requires full community participation, and a commitment to a long term process. Come join us again as we host the first of many planning meetings to begin to truly Reclaim Roxbury.
